Dutch mezzo-soprano Merel-Magali Cox is currently in her first year masters at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Mary Plazas.
Recent performed roles roles include Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Solomon (Solomon), Linette (L’Amour des Trois Oranges), Idamante (Idomeneo) with upcoming performances as Woodpecker (The Cunning Little Vixen).
She is a First Prize winner of the RNCM Song Cycle Competition and won the Second Prize in the Williams–Howard Prize later that year.
Also enjoying a varied career across oratorio and recital work, Merel-Magali’s recent highlights include Bach’s Johannes Passion with Manchester Baroque, Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Mozart’s, Haydn’s and Duruflé’s Requiem, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Britten's Rejoice the Lamb, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Rutter’s Feel the Spirit & Gloria. Most recently, she made her international debut with Elgar’s The Music Makers and Sea Pictures.
Upcoming performances include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Bach’s Matthäus-Passion, Magnificat & Himmelfahrtsoratorium and Britten's Canticles II.
